Title: Change.
Fandom: Monkey Island.
Characters: LeChuck, Largo LaGrande.
Prompt: 06 - Confession.
Word Count: 465.
Rating: PG.
Summary: LeChuck has fallen in love with Elaine Marley and his right hand man, Largo LaGrande, has just heard about it and is confused by what seems like a dramatic change in his captain.
Disclaimer: LeChuck, Largo LaGrande and the Monkey Island series belong to Lucasarts.

“So, Elaine Marley? When did this happen?”

LeChuck, who had previously been taking a big swig from his grog, placed his mug on the dirty table and glared at Largo before responding. “I don’t see what it ‘as to do with ye.”

Largo shrugged, “maybe it isn’t to do with me. It’s just something I was curious about.”

“I want ‘er to be my wife.”

If Largo had been drinking anything, he may well have spat it out in shock at that point. “You want to get married?”

“To ‘er, aye,” LeChuck raised an eyebrow at Largo’s shocked expression, “why do ye look so surprised?”

“You never had much of an interest in women, sir, at least, not a love interest.”

“Bound to ‘appen sooner or later,” LeChuck smirked. Largo was right, however, LeChuck’s interest in women had always purely been on a physical level. The only woman who’d been in his life for more than ten minutes was Minnie Goodsoup – who LeChuck had just used to get money and a new ship, anyway.

“Sure,” Largo replied uncertainly.

“Ye don’t think so?”

Largo, like LeChuck had previously been, wasn’t a big fan of women. His grandfather, whom he was raised by after his father’s death, had been very misogynistic by nature and had passed this attitude to his grandson. Unlike LeChuck however, Largo could never make himself see the point of marriage or even the point of loving someone. He dared not make his captain mad, however, by voicing his opinion as LeChuck was well known for killing men for the slightest irritations. Instead, Largo just shrugged his shoulders and took a drink, not meant for him, from a plate of drinks the chef was carrying past him.

LeChuck drummed his fingers on the table, a look of mild frustration on his face. “It seems, though, that Elaine Marley not be particularly fond of me.”

Largo shifted in his seat, feeling slightly uncomfortable. “Women can be stubborn.”

“Aye, she be a stubborn lass. What does she want from me?”

“I don’t know her,” Largo sighed, “riches, maybe?”

“That lass on Blood Island only wanted a pirate ‘usband, why can’t Elaine just want that?”

“Sir, if you don’t mind...” Largo paused for a moment, “I’m tired; I’ll probably just head back to the inn.”

LeChuck wasn’t fooled, however, and knew Largo was just trying to escape the conversation. “Ye can do a task for me first,” LeChuck growled, making sure Largo knew he was angry, “ye can go clean my quarters on the ship.”

Largo bit his tongue, making sure not to say anything he’d regret. Instead he chose to drag himself from the bar, mumbling under his breath as he went.

LeChuck watched him leave before taking a swig from his grog, smirking to himself as he did.
